Speak with Casper and Havel

Just head through the east gate and continue straight until you bump into him. Casper's quest is to uncover the secret behind the monks' superior wine, but first, you'll need to gather some information.

When conversing with Casper, make sure to explore all dialogue options. This will give you insight into Havel and a book he left with Adleta, setting the stage for your next moves. You have two main paths here: retrieving the book from Adleta or going directly to Havel.

If you choose to get the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg's inner wall in the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta often spends her time. Before you go, pick five Marigolds. Arrive before her brother Hugo shows up, or if he's already there, get his permission to speak with her. Be kind during your conversation with Adleta, explaining that you need the book for Casper. You can either pass a skill check to persuade her or offer the Marigolds as a gift to receive the book. Once you have it, read it from your inventory.

Alternatively, if you decide to bypass Adleta, head straight to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. Make sure your drinking skills are sharp and your outfit boosts your Charisma to at least 18. Engage Havel in conversation and choose these options:

• Germany. Let’s do it.
• That’s a very fine gift.
• Steinberger.
• It’s missing ginger.

These choices will impress Havel, who will then reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Return to Casper with this crucial information.

Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient

Next, journey to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg. Speak with the recruiter to initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While you don't need to complete this quest to finish "In Vino Veritas," starting it allows you to roam the vineyard freely without being labeled a trespasser.

Inside the vineyard, find Jerome sitting on a bench near the main building. Once inside the main building, sneak to the left and enter the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks, which are essential for Casper. For some extra Groschen, consider visiting the garden behind the main building and taking five seedlings before you leave.

If you're keen on completing "Under the Straw Hat," engage in tasks such as clearing plants around the vines and moving sacks. After completing enough tasks, report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and any seedlings you've collected.
