Tentacle Tactics

Nu Udra presents a significant challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its massive tentacles grant it impressive reach, making evasion crucial. However, these very tentacles offer melee fighters the closest point of attack. Severing them yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution—they pack a punch.

Mouthwatering Target

Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the prime target. Nu Udra's predominantly black hide makes it tricky to spot, but its 4-star weakness to attacks here makes it worthwhile. The head is another viable option, boasting a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, and remains effective for blunt and cut damage.

Watermoss Wisdom

Nu Udra's fire affinity is a significant threat. Beyond its physical attacks, it unleashes fiery assaults, even igniting itself, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Counter this by liberally applying Watermoss to mitigate the fire damage and safely engage the beast.

Fire-Resistant Fortitude

If you're struggling, equipping fire-resistant gear is highly recommended. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is an excellent choice. Consider adding decorations that reduce elemental damage, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (for enhanced water attack).

Grappling with Danger

Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly perilous. If caught too close, it ensnares you with its tentacles before unleashing a fiery blast. Use a knife to break free during the brief pause, or exploit the weakness with a timely Slinger attack.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster significantly—look for the skull icon next to its health bar. Lure it with meat or simply run behind the trap as it targets you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer; you have roughly five seconds before it breaks free.

Mastering the fight against Nu Udra requires skill and strategy. Don't hesitate to utilize multiplayer for a more manageable challenge.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
