Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates

Capcom's latest Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of information on several upcoming titles. Highlights include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and an extensive look at Monster Hunter Wilds.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release

The upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, promises compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The game will be set in the Edo period of Kyoto, faithfully recreating historical locations. The developers aim for "ultimate sword fighting action" with satisfying combat. The protagonist, due to a twist of fate, will wield an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of defeated Genma. While challenging, the difficulty will be balanced for players of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster Coming in 2025

A remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is set for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Details

The second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred. Returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Cross-play will be enabled.

Beta Dates:

• Thursday, February 6, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9, 6:59 PM PT
• Thursday, February 13, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16, 6:59 PM PT

Character data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Monsters

The new story trailer showcases the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami – Leviathan, Nerscylla – Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Release Date

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16, 2025, featuring Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 – Mai Shiranui Arrives February 5th

Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury joins Street Fighter 6 on February 5th, as the penultimate Year 2 character. Elena will be the final addition.
