Bloodborne Remaster Speculation Runs Wild Due to Official Instagram Posts
The Bloodborne community's long-held desire for a remastered edition of the FromSoftware classic has reached fever pitch following recent Instagram activity.
FromSoftware and PlayStation Fuel Bloodborne Remaster Speculation
A Beloved Game Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite, with many eager to explore Yharnam on current-gen consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia have ignited the flames of speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three Bloodborne images, including depictions of Djura, the Hunter exploring Yharnam, and the Charnel Lane graveyard, each accompanied by the hashtag "#bloodborne." This, coupled with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th (translated: "Swipe to see some of Bloodborne’s most iconic locations! A journey through gothic atmospheres and dark mysteries. Which is your favorite?"), has led to widespread online discussion.
Fans on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) have meticulously examined these posts, searching for hidden clues that might hint at a remaster. The timing and nature of these posts, particularly the inclusion of key locations, have only heightened the anticipation.
The Hunt Continues: Bloodborne on Modern Platforms
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has garnered immense praise and a dedicated following. Yet, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
The 2020 Demon's Souls remake often serves as a point of comparison, fueling hope for a Bloodborne revival. However, the decade-long wait for the Demon's Souls remake casts a shadow of uncertainty. As Bloodborne approaches its tenth anniversary, the desire for a remastered version intensifies.
Director Hidetaka Miyazaki's February interview with Eurogamer further stoked the flames. While not confirming a remaster, he acknowledged the advantages of modern hardware for such a project, emphasizing the improved accessibility for a wider audience.
Despite Miyazaki's comments, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, Bloodborne's IP is owned by Sony, limiting FromSoftware's ability to discuss the matter directly. Miyazaki has previously stated in interviews with IGN that he cannot comment on Bloodborne due to IP ownership.
The passionate Bloodborne fanbase eagerly awaits a remaster. Despite the game's critical acclaim and sales, its availability remains limited to the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality remains to be seen.
