Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven title offers a unique blend of action and storytelling, promising a compelling single-player experience.

Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker:

Players take on the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing between human and vampire – in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally vulnerable and relatable. His journey begins with a desperate race against time (30 days and nights) to save his family from the tyrannical vampire Brencis, who has plunged Vale Sangora into darkness. While the game features a time constraint, developers assure players will have ample playtime.

The reveal trailer highlights Coen's unique abilities, showcasing his superhuman agility and burgeoning magical powers. These abilities stem from his vampiric nature, but the magic system will be grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flashy spellcasting.

A Narrative Sandbox:

Despite the central quest to save his family, The Blood of Dawnwalker is designed as a narrative sandbox, emphasizing player agency and choice. The nonlinear storyline allows for multiple approaches to the main objective, with the world dynamically reacting to player decisions. To preserve this immersive single-player experience, multiplayer or co-op modes have been excluded. However, the game will feature romanceable characters from various races, including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially werewolves, adding depth to Coen's journey.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is currently slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a specific release date remains unannounced.
