Blizzard Offers Free Overwatch 2 Skin After Initial Paid Release
Blizzard finds itself embroiled in yet another controversy surrounding Overwatch 2. The company recently offered a new appearance for Lucio, the Cyber DJ skin, in the game's store for $19.99. However, just a day later, Blizzard announced that this same skin would be available for free during an upcoming event focused on the future of Overwatch 2. On February 12, players who watch the event broadcast on Twitch for an hour will receive the Cyber DJ skin at no cost.
This sudden announcement left many players who had already purchased the skin feeling frustrated and misled, sparking a significant backlash. The community's reaction was swift and vocal, with many demanding refunds for what they perceive as an unfair situation. The Cyber DJ skin has since been removed from the store, but Blizzard has yet to comment on the possibility of refunds.

This incident is not the first time Blizzard has faced criticism for selling cosmetic items and then offering them for free in subsequent promotions. The controversy comes at a challenging time for Overwatch 2, as it faces stiff competition from Marvel Rivals, which is currently outperforming it in various aspects.
In an effort to address these challenges and reignite interest in Overwatch 2, Blizzard has announced a special Overwatch 2 Spotlight event. Scheduled for February 12, this broadcast promises to unveil revolutionary gameplay changes, including new maps, heroes, and other content. To generate excitement and provide a sneak peek at upcoming game versions, Blizzard will also host well-known streamers at their headquarters.
