Enter the build mode and navigate to the wolf icon on the far right of the menu. This section lists all the animal types you've unlocked, categorized into dogs, cats, and "other."

Select the animal you wish to add to your Hideout. You'll be taken to an overhead view of the space, where you can choose an open grid on the map to place your new companion. Keep in mind that animals will roam freely once you exit build mode, so they won't stay in the same spot for cuddles.
