Mackenyu, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's adaptation of the beloved anime "One Piece," is set to join the voice cast of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest addition to Ubisoft's iconic RPG series.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Mackenyu will voice Gennojo, a significant character set within the game's Feudal Japan backdrop. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a key figure who assists the protagonist in tracking and eliminating a vital target.
"Gennojo is a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted individual, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He embodies the spirit of a flirtatious rogue and a cunning trickster, navigating life with a blend of wit, deception, and bravado," Ubisoft elaborated on Gennojo's character. "His motivation stems from a profound desire to overthrow a corrupt system, risking everything, including his own life, to achieve this goal. While the exact moment players will encounter Gennojo in the game remains undisclosed, it's confirmed that he will play a crucial role in the game's missions. Mackenyu has revealed that Gennojo is part of a faction called the "Shinobi League."
