App Army Reviews: Fragile Mind Puzzle Game
This week, the Pocket Gamer App Army tackled A Fragile Mind, a recently released puzzle adventure from Glitch Games. The game, a twist on the classic escape room formula with a dash of humor, received a mixed but engaging response from our community.
Here's what our App Army had to say:

Initially, the game's icon led me to believe it would be boring, but I was pleasantly surprised! The gameplay is unique and offers a fresh take on the puzzle adventure genre. The puzzles are challenging but incredibly engaging, making this one of the best puzzle games I've played. I highly recommend playing it on a tablet for the best experience.

A Fragile Mind is a point-and-click puzzle adventure with static, pre-rendered graphics. While the story remains somewhat elusive, the gameplay unfolds across multiple floors of a building, each presenting increasingly complex puzzles. Uniquely, you can progress to the next floor without solving every puzzle on the current one, and some puzzles require items obtained later. The game cleverly incorporates fourth-wall-breaking elements, such as descriptions noting insufficient graphic detail for certain items. While the hint system is generous, perhaps a bit too generous, the puzzles themselves are cleverly designed, feeling intuitive once the solution is found. Navigation could be improved; the interconnected rooms and corridors sometimes made orientation challenging. Despite this minor flaw, the game is a strong example of the genre and highly recommended.

A Fragile Mind is a first-person puzzle adventure that begins with the player waking up in a building's garden, disoriented and with no memory. Progress involves exploring, taking photos, and finding clues to solve puzzles. While the graphics and sound aren't spectacular, they're functional. The puzzles are challenging, occasionally requiring walkthrough assistance. The game's brevity means limited replay value, but fans of puzzle adventures will find it worthwhile.

Escape-room style puzzlers are usually a highlight for me on mobile, but A Fragile Mind unfortunately falls short. The presentation feels muddy, hindering puzzle identification. UI design choices, such as the menu button's placement, lead to accidental taps. The pacing is also off, with too many puzzles available from the start, leading to disorientation and early reliance on the hint system.

I'm not usually a fan of these puzzle games due to their difficulty and often underwhelming payoff, but A Fragile Mind is an exception. I appreciated the aesthetic, atmosphere, and intriguing puzzles. The hint system is well-implemented, offering assistance without spoiling the fun. Overall, a satisfying (though short) experience for the price. Highly recommended!

A Fragile Mind throws you into a series of interconnected puzzles, reminiscent of a giant Jenga tower. Each room presents multiple clues for multiple puzzles, requiring simultaneous problem-solving to advance. Note-taking and in-game photography are essential. The game boasts excellent visual and sound options, along with strong accessibility features. Expect an hour of gameplay for experienced puzzle solvers, with plenty of humor along the way. Highly enjoyable!
