"Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Pre-Release"

The highly anticipated Amazon adaptation of the iconic video game series, *God of War*, has already secured a commitment for two full seasons before its premiere, as announced by the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped into the role following the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent discussion with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from the acclaimed series *Battlestar Galactica*, Moore shed light on his latest project.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a dedicated gamer, Moore has dabbled in classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his challenges with modern game controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," illustrating his initial struggles with gaming technology.

Moore's role in the *God of War* series extends beyond just showrunning; he's also serving as a writer and executive producer. His impressive resume includes work on *Star Trek: The Next Generation* and *Deep Space Nine*, along with his pivotal role in the 2000s revival of *Battlestar Galactica*.

Despite the changes in the production team, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to be involved as an executive producer. The series is slated to be based on the 2018 installment of *God of War*, though specifics remain sparse at this early stage.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the *Fallout* TV show and *Secret Level* after their successful launches signal a promising future for *God of War* on the streaming platform.
