Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series
As if fans could resist seeing Alicia Silverstone donning the iconic yellow and plaid once more. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series, which is slated to stream on Peacock.
According to Variety, the series is currently in the development phase, and while plot specifics are under wraps, we know it will continue the narrative from the original 1995 film. This new project distinguishes itself from the previously announced Clueless spin-off that Peacock had planned back in 2020.
The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl and its reboot. They will co-write the series with Jordan Weiss, and the trio will also serve as executive producers alongside Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce this exciting revival.
This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to the small screen. After the success of the 1995 film, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, featuring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her enthusiasm for stepping back into Cher's shoes. Fans are undoubtedly eager to see what new adventures await Cher and her friends in this much-anticipated sequel series.
