Aladdin's New Horror Adaptation Coming Soon

We're entering a new era of adaptations, and the next one on the horizon is a fresh take on the Middle Eastern folktale of Aladdin. Titled "Aladdin: The Monkey's Paw," production is set to kick off next month, and it's clear this won't be the light-hearted Disney version from 1992 that many of us cherish.

This live-action adaptation promises to be a "dark, supernatural reimagining" of the classic legend, featuring a stellar cast including Nick Sagar, Ricky Norwood, Montana Manning, and Bradley Stryker. Stryker will also step behind the camera as both producer and director, working from a script penned by Charley McDougall. The film will be shot in the UK, where the story is set.

Deadline has shared the film's gripping synopsis: "A modern-day Londoner, Aladdin, inherits an ancient monkey's paw believed to grant wishes, only to discover that every desire comes at a soul-crushing price. As those around him fall victim to its curse, he must confront a growing evil — and the demonic force that feeds on every wish made."

This unique interpretation of the story, blending horror elements, seems to be deeply personal for the film's creative team. In a statement to the outlet, the writer expressed, "We always wanted to explore horror through a personal lens — not just the scares, but the human cost of wishes. While Disney's 1992 animated version of Aladdin remains the most beloved adaptation, the tale has been reimagined numerous times in both animated and live-action formats across various languages. The 2019 live-action remake, featuring Naomi Scott, represents the latest effort to modernize the legend.

Although no release date has been announced for this dark twist on a classic, anticipation is high, and fans are eager to see how this new take unfolds.
