Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other at a table. A standard 52-card deck is used, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team can win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The first to successfully match the type of paper wins the "Bamh." If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they forfeit and the "Tarneeb" option is passed. "Tarneeb" papers are considered superior to all other papers; the player who throws the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins, unless a stronger "Tarneeb" is played.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A bidding team only scores if they achieve their bid or exceed it; the number of "Allmat" won is added to their score. If the team fails to meet their bid, the points are deducted from their score, and the "Allmat" won by the opposing team are added to their score.
If a team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their score. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, 26 points are added. If a team bids for 13 tricks and fails to win them, 16 points are deducted from their score.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points; that team is declared the winner.
