Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly challenging enemies. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor in Avowed.

Upgrade Locations: Workbenches and Party Camps

Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above). These are located at Party Camps, established near Adra Waystones scattered throughout the world. Locate a Waystone, interact with it to set up camp, and the camp will appear on your map, allowing fast travel. Each upgrade requires specific materials, readily found, crafted, or obtained through gameplay. Note that upgrading between Qualities necessitates progressively rarer Adra.

Understanding Weapon and Armor Power Levels

Gear power is determined by two factors: Quality and additional upgrade tiers.

• Quality: Represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and an adjective. Quality directly correlates to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Lower Quality gear is ineffective against higher-level foes. Weapons and armor perform optimally against enemies of equal or lower Quality.

• Additional Upgrade Tiers (+0 to +3): Within each Quality level, three additional upgrade tiers enhance stats. These upgrades are necessary before advancing to the next Quality level.

Avowed features standard and Unique weapons and armor. Standard gear is common loot or merchant purchases. Unique gear, named items, is obtained through quests or boss drops. Unique items offer superior bonuses and can reach Legendary Quality, unlike standard gear which maxes out at Superb.
