The Simpsons: Tapped Out Is About To Tap Out As EA Is Shutting It Down

EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is officially ending. After a twelve-year run, starting in 2012 on Apple's App Store and 2013 on Google Play, the game will be sunsetted.

Shutdown Timeline:

In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. Servers will finally shut down on January 24th, 2025. EA expressed gratitude to players for their decade-long support.

One Last Chance to Experience Springfield?

For those unfamiliar, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a city-building game where you rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown. You manage the town, interact with iconic characters (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Fat Tony, etc.), unlock costumes (like Daredevil Bart), expand to Springfield Heights, and even run the Kwik-E-Mart.

The game is freemium; while free to download, "donuts" are the in-game currency driving progression. Regular updates often coincided with Simpsons storylines and real-world holidays.

If you're interested in experiencing Springfield one last time before the servers go offline, download it from the Google Play Store before October 31st. Don't forget to check out our article on eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, another mobile game launching this fall!
