Patch 7 Brings Sinister Ending to Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3's upcoming Patch 7 introduces terrifying new evil endings, offering players a chilling glimpse into the game's darker possibilities.
A New Evil Ending: A Father's Legacy
Larian Studios recently unveiled a 52-second cinematic trailer on X (formerly Twitter), previewing one such ending focused on the Dark Urge. This preview showcases the grim consequences of a completely evil playthrough.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
The trailer depicts the Dark Urge's companions meeting a gruesome end as their leader succumbs to Bhaal's influence, seizing control of the Netherbrain. The Dark Urge uses mind control to force their companions to their deaths, setting the stage for a reign of terror. A chilling narration accompanies the scene: "Time for the final act. Your tragedy has become mankind's." The Dark Urge ultimately suffers a similar fate.
This is just one of several new evil endings promised in Patch 7. Larian previously announced improved evil endings for more sinister playthroughs, even for characters other than the Dark Urge. Previously teased endings include the Dark Urge walking through a sea of blood and corpses, and a town overtaken by "sheer mindless bliss" under the True Absolute.
What Else is New in Patch 7?
Patch 7 is a massive update, including:
- New evil endings (as detailed above).
- A dynamic split-screen mode for cooperative play.
- Enhanced Honour Mode challenges.
- A highly anticipated modding toolkit.
Larian Studios has confirmed that this isn't the end for Baldur's Gate 3. Future updates will include crossplay and photo mode, demonstrating their commitment to ongoing improvements based on player feedback.
Currently in closed beta, Patch 7 is slated for release in September. While the exact date remains unannounced, players can register on the Steam store page for early access. Larian's dedication to refining Baldur's Gate 3 solidifies its position as a genre-defining masterpiece.
