Dune: Awakening Ornithopter PvP Sparks Funcom Probe
Dune: Awakening developer Funcom has announced upcoming fixes for players frustrated by helicopter (Ornithopter) squishing incidents in PvP.
As documented by Reddit user Bombe18 in the video below, Ornithopters currently present an unavoidable threat - upon self-reviving, players instantly face another crushing attack. This strategy proves particularly frustrating since only missile launcher-wielding players can effectively counter it.
Dune developers, I accept PvP defeats. But being crushed repeatedly by damage-proof Ornithopters? No.

"Dune developers, I accept PvP defeats," Bombe18 wrote. "But being crushed by invincible Ornithopters? No." They proposed potential solutions: either implement collision damage for aerial vehicles or disable crushing mechanics entirely.
Funcom quickly responded to these widespread complaints. "Sorry about this," stated Joel Bylos, Funcom's Chief Creative Officer. "We're prioritizing fixes for these aerial crushing attacks."
The invulnerability issue extends beyond Ornithopters to all vehicle types. Without comprehensive fixes, players worry the PvP meta might simply shift to other unstoppable vehicles.
Despite this PvP issue, Dune: Awakening maintains strong launch momentum with 'Very Positive' Steam reviews. Within launch day (June 10), Funcom's survival MMO peaked at 142,000 concurrent players on Steam, with higher numbers anticipated this weekend.
