Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement confirming the images and videos are unofficial. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.

Genki, known for its gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting a 3D-printed Switch 2 model. They further claimed to possess a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup of the console.

This contradicts Nintendo's official stance, which has only confirmed backwards compatibility with the original Switch and promised future announcements regarding the Switch 2. The discrepancy between Genki's claims and Nintendo's silence has fueled speculation about an imminent official reveal from the Japanese gaming giant.
