Monster Hunter Now Trials New Outbreaks Feature
Monster Hunter Now Introduces Experimental Monster Outbreaks
Niantic is testing a potentially game-changing feature called Monster Outbreaks in Monster Hunter Now. Currently in player feedback phase, this limited-time event will help developers refine mechanics before considering a full release.
When Does the Monster Outbreaks Testing Occur?
The trial runs during two-hour windows on April 26th and 27th:
- Morning Session: 10:00-10:59 AM local time
- Afternoon Session: 3:00-3:59 PM local time
During these periods, special outbreak locations will spawn concentrated groups of 8-star Black Diablos. The community challenge requires hunters to collectively defeat 100 monsters per outbreak location within each one-hour window.
Participation Requirements:
- Hunter Rank 11+
- Physical co-op play only (no remote party feature)
Designated outbreak zones appear on maps with distinct icons. Hunters can view details and register their participation through an in-game sign-up system at each location.
Black Diablos Swarm Challenge Mechanics
The counter system tracks group contributions uniquely - each hunter's successful takedown counts toward the collective goal. For example:
- 1 hunter defeating 1 Black Diablos = +1 count
- 4 hunters defeating 1 Black Diablos = +4 counts
Even after reaching the 100-mark, hunting continues until time expires. These outbreaks exclusively feature Black Diablos encounters.
Rewards Breakdown
Successful outbreak completions yield:
- 3× Black Diablos Tailcases
- 3× Ridges
- 3× Primeshells
- 3× Marrows
- 2,000 Zenny
Registered participants also receive the exclusive Outbreak Test I Medal.
