"Master Pre-Hunt Meals in Monster Hunter Wilds"

Monster hunting is no easy task. To ensure you're well-prepared for the challenge, eating a nutritious meal before setting out is crucial. Here's your guide on how to cook and eat your own meals in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Cooking and Eating Meals in Monster Hunter Wilds

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you won't find a friendly Palico NPC to prepare your meals as in *World* and *Rise*. Instead, you'll need to take matters into your own hands. There are two primary methods to cook your meals:

  • By cooking in your tent
  • By using the Portable BBQ Grill

When you accept a new quest, take a moment to prepare. I suggest heading to your tent, where you can access the BBQ Menu by pressing L1 or R1, and then selecting the "Grill a Meal" option. Alternatively, you can use the Portable BBQ Grill from your inventory. Simply select it, press the square button to use it, and start cooking from there.

Which Meals to Cook?

In the cooking menu, you have three options for your meals: recommended, custom, or favorite. Recommended meals are straightforward and utilize a Ration along with any additional ingredients you have on hand. Cooking with just Rations grants you a 30-minute buff with +50 Health, +150 Stamina, and +2 Attack. Adding ingredients extends this duration by an additional 20 minutes.

While the recommended meal provides a solid foundation for your hunt, if you're looking to tailor your meals to your needs, opt for the custom meal option. Here, you can select one Ration—be it meat, fish, or veggies—each offering different buffs such as increased attack, defense, or elemental resistances. Ingredients and finishing touches further enhance your meal, offering benefits like improved gathering or reduced damage taken.

Once you've chosen your meal, start cooking, and your Hunter will automatically eat, ensuring you're ready for the hunt ahead.

That's how you cook and eat meals in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, make sure to check out The Escapist.
