Mask Around is the sequel to one of the strangest roguelikes of all time
Mask Around: The Sequel to Mask Up Delivers More Gooey Action!
Following the 2020 release of the quirky roguelike platformer Mask Up, developer Rouli returns with Mask Around, a sequel that expands on the original's unique gameplay. Remember that bizarre yellow ooze? It's back, along with some exciting new twists.
While Mask Up focused primarily on 2D brawling, Mask Around introduces 2D shooting mechanics. Players can seamlessly switch between gunning down enemies and using their signature goo abilities to pummel opponents.
Resource management remains crucial. The all-important yellow ooze is still in limited supply, demanding careful use, particularly during challenging boss fights.
A Refined Experience
Currently available on Google Play (with no iOS release announced yet), Mask Around appears to be a significant improvement over its predecessor. It retains the core gameplay of Mask Up but adds substantial depth. Players must strategically utilize their ooze while employing weapons as a backup, creating a more nuanced experience. The visuals also boast a noticeable polish.
