Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas map, Ritual Altar locations are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet can guarantee a Ritual encounter on a chosen node within a completed Lost Tower.

Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types and mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools).

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after reviewing its modifiers. A circular zone will appear; remain within it to fight the summoned enemies. Leaving this zone prematurely ends the event with no rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals in a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss

The "An Audience With The King" currency item unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss. This item is obtained as a random reward from Ritual Favors.

Use "An Audience With The King" at your Realmgate to access the boss fight. His mechanics are similar to his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items exclusive to the Ritual event, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible from the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual rewards. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and increase unique currency drop rates.

Notable nodes include:

Notable Node Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion 25% increased Ritual Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute and faster appearance for Deferring Favours N/A
From The Mists 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain Toughness and damage, but no longer penalize Tribute From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Always 4 Ritual Altars per map N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute) Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents 25% faster monster waves, 50% increased chance for Omens in Favours N/A
He Approaches 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance for "An Audience With The King" Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolling N/A

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" initially, then "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches." Each new Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at an increased difficulty.

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completing Rituals earns Tribute, a temporary currency used to purchase Favours (randomized items). More completed Altars increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier rewards, including Rare gear and high-value currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omen Currencies

Omen items are exceptionally valuable, modifying the effects of other Currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy. Their rarity makes them highly sought-after for crafting or trading.

Various Omen Currencies More Omen Currencies Final Omen Currency

Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
