GAMM Unveils Massive Collection of Game History for Public Sharing
Rome boasts Italy's largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), now open to the public in Piazza della Repubblica. The brainchild of Marco Accordi Rickards – writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus – GAMM reflects Rickards' passion for preserving and celebrating video game history. He describes the museum as a journey blending history, technology, and gameplay exploration, building upon the legacy of Vigamus, a Rome-based gaming museum that has welcomed over two million visitors since 2012.
GAMM occupies 700 square meters across two floors, divided into three captivating thematic areas. A sneak peek awaits!
Inside GAMM: A Journey Through Gaming History
The GAMMDOME, a digital playground, features interactive stations alongside authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated items. Its design adheres to the 4E concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.
The Path of Arcadia (PARC) transports visitors to the golden age of arcade games, showcasing classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.
Finally, the Historical Playground (HIP) delves into game mechanics, dissecting game structures, interaction designs, and rules. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the evolution of gaming.
GAMM is open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets cost 15 euros. Visit the official GAMM website for more information. Stay tuned for our next article on Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp!
