Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: A Controversial "Dark Resolution"

Cookie Run: Kingdom recently announced its Version 5.6 update, dubbed "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," packed with new cookies, episodes, events, and more. However, this update isn't without its controversies.

The Good:

  • Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie: This Ancient+ Cookie, a Charge-type frontline fighter, boasts a powerful Awakened King skill inflicting fatal wounds and CRIT Resist debuffs. He also synergizes with Twin Dragons for devastating attacks. A special Nether-Gacha increases the odds of obtaining him.

  • Peach Blossom Cookie: A new Epic Support Cookie, Peach Blossom Cookie heals allies and provides DMG and Debuff Resist buffs with her Heavenly Fruit skill.

  • New World Exploration Episode: Dark Cacao Cookie's story continues in "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," featuring Yin and Yang battle stages.

The Bad and the Ugly:

The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity—a new tier above existing rarities—caused significant backlash. With a maximum 6-star promotion level, this addition brings the total rarity count to eleven. Players criticized the decision to introduce a new highest rarity instead of enhancing existing cookies. This sparked outrage, particularly within the Korean community and whale guilds, leading to boycott threats.

In response to the negative feedback, the developers have postponed the update (originally scheduled for June 20th) to reconsider the changes. The official announcement can be found on their Twitter feed.

The community's reaction highlights the importance of developer-player communication and the potential consequences of potentially unpopular game mechanics. The situation remains fluid, with further updates expected. Stay tuned for more information.
