Destiny 2 Hints at Classic Weapon

Destiny 2 enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement over a cryptic tweet from the official Destiny 2 team's Twitter account, hinting at the possible return of the legendary hand cannon, The Palindrome, with the launch of Episode: Heresy in February. As Destiny 2 has recently hit one of its lowest points in terms of player engagement and retention, fans are eagerly anticipating that Episode: Heresy could be the much-needed boost to rekindle interest in the game before the next major content drop, tentatively named Codename: Frontiers, later this year.

With the conclusion of Episode: Revenant on the horizon, Bungie has already started teasing the upcoming Episode: Heresy. Episode: Revenant received mixed feedback, with the community voicing dissatisfaction over the narrative and gameplay, which led to waning interest in the MMORPG. However, it did bring back several cherished weapons, including the iconic Icebreaker exotic sniper rifle from the original Destiny, which added some excitement to the game's weapon pool.

The anticipation for Episode: Heresy, set to launch on February 4, is building, especially with the intriguing Twitter post that turned out to be a palindrome. This has led many to believe that The Palindrome, a fan-favorite hand cannon from as early as the first Destiny, will make a comeback. Although not officially confirmed, the speculation is rife that this classic weapon will return alongside the new episode.

The Return of The Palindrome Should Be a More Triumphant One This Time

While The Palindrome has previously been available in Destiny 2, it has been absent since the 2022 release of The Witch Queen expansion. Historically, the hand cannon was a dominant force in PvP, but its recent iterations in Destiny 2 have disappointed players due to suboptimal perk selections.

Fans are hopeful that the next version of The Palindrome will feature a more competitive set of perks, aligning with the current meta. Although details about Episode: Heresy are scarce, aside from its focus on the Hive and the Dreadnought from the original game, it's expected that Bungie will continue to tease the reintroduction of more beloved weapons as the episode's launch date approaches.
