Delisted FPS Games Might be Returning with PS5 and Xbox Series Ports

Doom Slayers Collection Rumored for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Return

The Doom Slayers Collection, a compilation featuring four iconic Doom games, may be making a comeback on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The collection, which was delisted in 2024, includes remasters of Doom, Doom II, Doom III, and the 2016 Doom reboot. Recent ESRB ratings strongly suggest its return to current-gen consoles, notably excluding the Nintendo Switch and last-generation consoles.

The original Doom (1993) revolutionized the first-person shooter genre, introducing groundbreaking features like 3D graphics and multiplayer capabilities. Its enduring legacy and influence on gaming are undeniable. While a previously considered Secret Level crossover didn't materialize, the potential return of the Doom Slayers Collection is a significant development.

Initially released in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, the collection's resurgence is hinted at by its recent "M" rating from the ESRB for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The absence of Switch and last-gen console listings on the ESRB website suggests these platforms may not see a digital re-release. Further bolstering this speculation is the recent ESRB rating for Doom 64 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, given that the physical Doom Slayers Collection included a Doom 64 download code.

Games Included:

  • Doom
  • Doom II
  • Doom III
  • Doom (2016)

This potential re-release aligns with past practices from both Bethesda and id Software. Similar to the previous delisting and subsequent re-release of Doom and Doom II as Doom + Doom II, this strategy appears consistent. It also mirrors id Software's history of porting its titles to current-gen consoles, as seen with Quake II.

Beyond the possible Doom Slayers Collection return, fans have another reason to celebrate: Doom: The Dark Ages, a highly anticipated prequel with a medieval twist, is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025.
