How To Defeat Zhang Jiao In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Conquering Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide
One of the initial hurdles in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the battle against Zhang Jiao, leader of the Yellow Turbans. This guide details strategies for victory.
Phase 1: A One-on-One Duel
This phase unfolds in a spacious wasteland. Zhang Jiao utilizes sorcery, launching stones across the arena. His attacks vary based on your distance:
- Close Range: Four stones are summoned, demanding swift evasion.
- Long Range: Eight stones are launched in pairs, easily dodged by circling him.
Maintain a safe distance when he summons numerous stones to avoid heavy damage. While primarily a ranged fighter, Zhang Jiao employs close-range combos (parryable) and an area-of-effect (AOE) pushback attack. A white glow signals his AOE attack; evade promptly.
Later, he unleashes unblockable attacks (red aura), summoning a large rockfall and clones. The best approach is to retreat and wait for the attack's conclusion before resuming your offense. Equip a sword for optimal damage output.
Monitor your health carefully. You likely have limited healing opportunities (four times, depending on skill upgrades). Meat buns are available near the arena entrance; utilize them during strategic retreats.
Phase 2: Aided Assault
Activating Musou Rage triggers phase two, bringing Yellow Turban reinforcements. Fortunately, your army also arrives, providing respite. This is an ideal time to replenish health with those meat buns. Zhang Jiao summons tornadoes; be mindful of the wind currents during combat.
After eliminating sufficient soldiers, Zhang Jiao attempts a Grand Tactic, requiring you to defeat 300 soldiers within minutes to avoid a devastating attack. He also unleashes lightning strikes; observe the ground for approaching rings and evade when they flash. Musou Mode (basic, not Rage) efficiently eliminates large groups of soldiers.
Foiling Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic twice returns him to the battlefield with phase one tactics. With your army's support, defeating him should be straightforward, concluding Chapter 1.
Victory Achieved
By following these strategies, you can successfully defeat Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
