Auction Bridge & IB

Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) is a bridge card game variant.

Evolving from bridge whist, Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) represents the third stage in bridge's development. Preceding contract bridge, its lineage traces back to whist and bridge whist.

Auction Bridge & IB's scoring system—for tricks, bonuses, and penalties—differs significantly from contract bridge. Vulnerability, a key contract bridge element, is absent.

Trump selection processes share similarities, though contract bridge's trump selection is more intricate. Gameplay and rules largely mirror contract bridge.

The dealer initiates trump selection, aiming to win at least the odd trick in a trump suit or no-trump. Higher point contracts (disregarding doubles) take precedence over higher trick counts. For instance, 3 Spades (27 points) surpasses 4 Clubs (24 points).

Trick scoring beyond six tricks is as follows:

• No-trump: 10 points
• Spades: 9 points
• Hearts: 8 points
• Diamonds: 7 points
• Clubs: 6 points

A game is achieved at 30 points.
